Urge NZ Gets “A Bear’s Life” For 10th Anniversary
Written by NetBear on November 8, 2007 – 11:00 pm -Urge, the daddy of Auckland’s gay bar scene, is celebrating its 10th birthday at the end of November. To honor the occasion renowned French artist Christophe Jannin is bringing his “A Bear’s Life” drawings to this masculine gay space.

This exhibition at Urge is a first chance to look at Jannin’s drawings, most of them realized in New Zealand and never shown in public in the country before. His work is heavily influenced by the world of literature and also the Maori culture. Yep, the rugby player is definitely an All Black.

Sometimes it’s more interesting to find the sensuality than the sexuality. You have to guess more, it’s not being served to you it on a silver plate.
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. At Bearotic we agree that it’s more interesting to leave something to the imagination.
The Urge bar is hosting a weekend of festivities starting on Friday, November 23ed with a free Kiwi barbie and $2 keg beers night. Proceeds from the night will go to Prostate Cancer as part of their collection for Mo-vember. Then on Saturday the bar is hosting a massive party to celebrate 10 years of fun. Surprise gifts will be given out during the night.
