True Colors Tour Rocks Audiences Across America
Written by NetBear on June 12, 2008 – 8:58 am -Last year’s string of concerts was a huge hit. And this summer the second annual running of the True Colors Tour is again lighting-up cities across America. After attending the concert last year, you can bet I’ll be attending this years show!
The tour kicked-off in Boston at the end of May, blowing away audiences with music from Cyndi Lauper, The B-52s, Regina Spektor, The Cliks and Kat DeLuna. This year the show is hosted by Carson Kressley of Queer Eye fame.
Here’s a little more information about the founder and music headliners of this year’s concert series.
Cyndi Lauper has been a devoted advocate for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community for over 25 years. In 2007 she launched the annual True Colors Tour. In partnership with organizations like the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), this North American tour brings people together to voice their solidarity for GLBT equality and raise awareness about the continued discrimination the community still faces.

After winning a Grammy Award in 1985 for best new artist and becoming the first artist in history to have five top ten singles from a debut album, Cyndi Lauper continues to win critical acclaim as a singer, musician, actor and writer. Cyndi has released 11 albums, over 40 singles and has sold more than 25 million records worldwide. She has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, 2 Emmy Awards, 2 American Music Awards, 7 American Video Awards, and 18 MTV awards.

The B-52s have come a long way since their revolutionary 1979 self-titled debut, featuring the evergreen Rock Lobster. Following the loss of founding member Ricky Wilson in 1985, the group rebounded with their triumphant 1989 smash, Cosmic Thing, which spawned the Top 10 hits Love Shack and Roam. They returned in 1998 with the anthology. Time Capsule: Songs for a Future Generation, and the band has remained a popular and active live touring act. Quite simply, the B-52s are the ultimate party band! The album Funplex is their first record of the 21st century.

That’s just the headline music acts. The comedy last year was outrageous and fun with Margaret Cho and Rosie O’Donnell on the ticket. You wouldn’t believe how funny they were. This year Rosie is back. And Carson Kressley is going to rip up the audience with laughs. Gosh, I wonder if he’ll do any spontaneous fashion consults?
Tickets are still available! Visit the True Colors site for concert dates and ticket information.
