We love getting tips from Bearotic visitors. When Toni recommended we check-out this reality show on the History Channel it sounded like just the kind of thing we’d like to learn more about: big, furry, hot truckers with larger-than-life personalities.

Ice Road Truckers

You’ve got to be pretty brave to be to haul a huge 18-wheeler up a road made from a giant frozen lake in one of the coldest places on earth. Ice Road Truckers introduces some big, burly REAL men that put the pedal to the metal for us.

If there’s one guy on Ice Road Truckers that really catches our eye, it’s Hugh. He’s nicknamed The Polar Bear for good reason. He’s a mountain of a man.

Ice Road Truckers Hugh

Hugh is described as an animal on the ice road. He is one of the toughest and most experienced ice road truckers on the planet but he is still a big kid and has a reputation for being sarcastic. Born and bred in Canada, Hugh lived in Yellowknife most of his life and then moved to British Columbia. That’s one big, bear of a man, if we ever saw one!

But don’t take our word. Have a look at Hugh in action.

Hugh appeared on the Conan O’Brien show, inspiring many a fur-lover to tune in to the series. That appearance inspired Toni to write us! But how in the world do they make a show like this? Watch this behind the scenes look at how the film makers make this series in 32-below temperatures.

Here’s part 1 of a Modern Marvels episode that set the stage for the series. It explains the perils these guys face and introduces a few more bearded truckers.

If you like adventure in the great white north with some great big bear men, be sure to check out Ice Road Truckers at The History Channel.

Did you miss season 1? Check out the the videos at Amazon.

And if you’ve totally got a man-crush on Hugh now, you’re not alone. He’s so popular that he has his own My Space page and web site where you can pick-up t-shirts with some of his favorite expressions on ‘em. We like the one that says “Cross Your Nuts!;)

The Ice Road Truckers was interesting at first, however I don’t listen to radio stations that play the same music over and over and over and over and…………………………………………
