New Margaret Cho Show Premieres On VH1
Written by NetBear on August 13, 2008 – 5:13 am -The star of America’s first Asian-American sitcom is back with a revealing new reality sitcom on the VH1 network. Comedian Margaret Cho takes “The Cho Show” where she’s always wanted to as a comic.

After thirteen years this series opens a new chapter in Margaret’s television career. She says, “It’s the closest I’ve been able to come on television to what I do as a comic.” The series is like a sitcom but with real people playing the parts.
Since Cho’s initial foray into television back in 1995 she’s learned a lot about herself and her audience. While Margaret has always had a huge following in gay circles, her hit comic concerts and appearances have attracted a whole new audience.

The Cho Show, a new seven-episode, half-hour series is set to premiere on August 21 on music channel VH1. This time Margaret is doing TV on her own terms. In a mix of reality and scripted comedy, the show tackles such issues as anal bleaching, plastic surgery, making a sex tape and even Cho’s haunted vagina.

Margaret isn’t shy about, well, anything! Here she is getting into mischief trying out a sling at the sex toy shop.

Margaret’s little person assistant and longtime friend Selene Luna has some outrageous one liners. She got her start in Hollywood doing cabaret and burlesque so this isn’t a surprise. Were this not Margaret Cho you might think Selene was there to provide comedy relief. But more likely she is there to help keep Ms. Cho’s feet on the ground as a trusted friend.

What has gotten into you Lambchop?
Half your arm, bitch!
There are some facets of reality in the show. Many people from Cho’s real life show-up in the series including her parents and friend Selene. However, Margaret’s husband, visual artist Al Ridenour, does not make an appearance. It’s probably better that way. Cho can get crazy with friends without the ball and chain getting in the way.

To add some gay chaos to the mix a “Glam Squad” has been scripted into the show. Gay stylists John Stapleton, Charlie Altuna and John Blaine help Margaret get into trouble and keep the queer vibes flowing.

Scripted or not, it is going to be a lot of fun peaking into Cho’s life. We get to see a side of her (eh hem) that we may not have before. Here she is looking absolutely stunning in a painted-on prom dress.

Woa! Margaret, you’re a hottie!
Ready for a taste of The Cho Show? From sex tapes to plastic surgery, here’s a trailer to fill you in on what to expect this season.
After struggling with the realities of Hollywood during her short-lived first series, Margaret has had thirteen years to develop her comic genius. Today she is one of the hottest comics in the business. Her new series lets her explore that life lesson a bit more while sharing her unique point of view and an “anything goes” lifestyle.

Having followed her career from the beginning, we think Margaret Cho is one of the most underrated talents in the world today. We have high hopes that The Cho Show will finally show just how funny and fantastic this intelligent, beautiful lady is. Don’t miss it! Thursday, August 21st at 11pm on VH1.
