Academy Award winner Sean Penn is gay rights icon Harvey Milk, an activist and politician, and the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in America.
His life changed history. His courage changed lives.
After watching the trailer I have to say that Sean Penn looks really, REALLY good as Harvey Milk, the gay rights advocate who was slain in 1978 by Dan White, a recently resigned city Supervisor who opposed Milk’s views, to put it mildly.
Actor Josh Brolin looks absolutely spooky similar to Dan White. He got that puzzled and confused with a hint of hatred look right on. I remember seeing similar images of Dan White on TV. Brrrrr… Sends a shiver down my spine.
The film will help new generations of LGBT people to remember how far we’ve come, but also how far we still have to go. The rhetoric spouted back in 1970’s sounds eerily similar to what we’re still hearing today.
The film releases to theaters on November 26th.
