Hugh Jackman Sizzles In New Australia Movie
Written by NetBear on November 20, 2008 – 1:24 pm -When Australia, the new Baz Luhrmann epic, came up on our radar earlier this year there wasn’t much known about it except that it starred Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. Jackman? Our Wolverine man and all around beach bum? It turns-out that Australia might just be Jackman’s biggest beefcake calling yet.

If you’ve been lucky enough to catch one of the trailers for Australia on TV or the web, you’ve probably caught a glimpse of a scruffy, sweaty outback-looking Jackman in various states of undress — all of them furry and hot!
This has been quite a week already for Hugh Jackman and it is only Thursday. On Monday he got good reviews from the papers when Australia had it’s world premiered in Sydney. And yesterday People magazine named Jackman the “Sexiest Man Alive.” After seeing some of the photos from Australia, we’re inclined to agree!

Hugh Jackman plays the lead male character in Australia called “The Drover.” Originally, Russell Crowe was set to play the lead role. But he dropped out of the project in April 2006 due to creative differences with the studio. Hmm… Tough call as to who might be more bearotic in the role, eh?

In Australia, director Baz Luhrmann is trying to revive the old-school Hollywood epic with a World War II-era romantic Western about an uptight English aristocrat (Kidman) who journeys into the outback and falls for a handsome, lonesome-dove cattle herder (Jackman). It sounds like the typical love story on the range cliché.
Australian men are a different breed.
They’re rugged and they sweat.
– Nicole Kidman on Hugh in Australia
The country of Australia hopes to capitalize on the release of the movie with increased tourism to the land down-under. Well, if this is the kind of tourism a bear can expect in Australia, we’re also inclined to book our travel plans ASAP! Rugged, furry and sweaty floats our boat!

Jackman is scruffy and cute as The Drover in Australia.
Watching Jackman on the big screen as a rugged Aussie cowboy will certainly be nice. But when we got a glimpse of these eye-popping scenes showing The Drover shirtless by the campfire… GULP… We were speechless. (Probably cuz our tongues were wagging!) It’s easy to see why Kidman’s character gets all hot and flustered for The Drover!

Whey the movie studio isn’t publicizing more of the Jackman beefcake photos is beyond me. It’s obviously a key selling factor!
See for yourself!

The Drover gets playful at the bar.

A man and his dog. Separated only by the romantic interest. The dog looks concerned in this scene, no?

Rugged men in rugged terrain. It’s hard to keep your eye off the sights in Australia.

Wow! Herding must be good exercise for the arms!

Obviously Hugh Jackman brings-up the fur-factor in Australia quite a few notches. And, yeah, he’s also pretty easy on the eyes and a damn fine actor and performer. But one A-list actor, even two, can’t make a movie successful on their own. We hope Australia can prove itself as the epic we’re hoping it is.
Hope you enjoyed the furry still images. Here’s a trailer for the movie.
The movie has received favorable reviews in Australia. But what will The Academy have to say about it? Will Jackman’s Sexiest Man Alive fame taint his chances at winning an Oscar for his role as The Drover?

Hollywood… (Sigh) In ways, so unpredictable… Yet so predictable in other ways.
