Colton Ford — Losing My Religion
Written by NetBear on June 16, 2009 – 5:37 pm -Silver-haired and sexy Colton Ford has done a cover of R.E.M.’s alternative rock hit Losing My Religion while showing off his ripped body in the music video directed by Carl Byrd.

This is one of many tracks made famous by someone else from Ford’s second full-length album, Under The Covers. Other songs include Fleetwood Mac’s 32-year-old Dreams (the oldest song on the album), Babyface’s R&B chart-topper It’s no Crime, Robyn’s With Every Heartbeat, Sade’s By Your Side, Alicia Keys No One and Nirvana’s Lithium, among others.

As a 50-plusser i can fuly identify with the urge to fulfill ageing rockstar fantasies (do it all the time in my bathroom!) and with a body like that, you’d think all the elements would be in place to knock Tom jones off the geriatric superstar ladder….so why is it vaguely embarrassing?

If you do not have a good voice…you must have something interesting or controversial to sing about…al la Madonna. Sadly he has a medicore voice at best and has nothing interesting to add to music.

I understand why the producer of the video had him get naked, I’d shut it off right about that time if he hadn’t. Mediocre vioce, indeed. Sounds like a producer-ripoff on Cyndi’s latest album too by the way. But hey, all the best to him.

I’m still trying to wrap my mind around the full-body fishnet catsuit. He really doesn’t need to try so hard - it’s not like they’re going to keep him out of the White Party (although he did have a lot to explain to the committee by allowing Kazwell to “rap” on one of his records).
I fear what he did to “Dreams”. Remember, gentlemen — Stevie is OFF the re-do list per the last Gay Manual (ed. 2009, Vol. 3, pg. 210: “Music You Must Never Cover”).

that’s just awful. Tarnish’s the song, he does.

Looks good til the catsuit.. I just start thinking batman and robin. This is not a siong that needed a dance remake. REM’s original is kinda one of those classic songs you dont wanna try to change.

I wonder if Michael Stipe had that video in mind when he wrote the song. Um…no.

i actually think this remake is quite good. even though i don’t like trance-dance, it has an edge to it. not so mainstream. and it has slightly different chords then the original. and the building up is good and i like the soul backings in the end.
but the video… no. the catsuit and fishnet things don’t do the song justice. Just the khakis and wifebeater are sexy enough Colton. Beside, we all know what you look like anyway…

Silver-haired and sexy? Hmmm…I guess guys who shave off their body hair turn some people on, but I find it insulting to bears. Evidently Mr. Ford doesn’t want to be identified with our community. He can take his boring singing and absolutely atrocious video and stick them in some twinkie bar. Give me Elijah Black anyday. A real man who makes real music. Not some manufactured Hollywood fake.

I just read the comments and I think most guys have an issue with his age than his actual cover of REM’s Losing My Religion. I think it’s the same gay “logic” that applies to britney spears being the “new” Madonna. If I had some of the talent Colton Ford has, I’d be a happier 42 year gay man! I’d like to think Michael Stipe & company would be happy with his cover of their song.

Your right there is no one like the original. I agree that the fishnet is a bit much. I dont know who is in charge of his wardrobe but they need to be fired. He should keep up his manly look because it works so much better. i did like the suit and mask. Super heros do that for me. lol As far as his music goes, i think he is a great musical performer and am pushing his music in the little town i live in as much as possible. Everyone should know who he is. I wish him the best..

This video & song re-make are both absolutely and completely embarrassing. Wondering who is to blame for this… Colton is/was an amazing porn actor/ entertainer- incredibly sexy/ masculine/ charismatic/ versatile & passionate- none of these qualities are evident in his singing or music video work…
