Walter Van Beirendonck 2010 WONDE® Collection
Written by NetBear on July 14, 2009 – 10:38 pm -If there’s one thing I really like about the bears, it’s that they aren’t afraid to go their own way. They’re quite often bold individuals who blaze their own trails through life. Take that concept and apply it to fashion and you’ve got the colorful, furry styles of Belgium born designer Walter Van Beirendonck.

His 2010 Summer WONDE® collection for men features, bright colors, easy wear baggies, modern flowing lines and an all bear cast of models. Woof!
Recognize any of these bear models? You just might.

What were all these bear models wearing underneath those loose fitting outfits? Well, every fashion show has got to have some underwear, right? WVB has ‘em covered in style with his own style of jock briefs, knee-length socks and his blazing sneakers.

Now here’s that group shot of all the underbears we were telling you about. Grrr…

OK, I don’t get it. These are big, hunky, hot men. They’re BEARS for god’s sake and some of them are shaved or waxed. What’s a bear without his fur?
I love a good mat right across the chest, something you can sink your face into and roll your forehead or check around in. I hate the twink squeeky clean look–I hope not to see that invade bear territory.

Oh god, there isn’t a single item of clothing in this entire line that isn’t horrible.

Good fashion is like good art — it pushes the gauntlet and forces us out of our box, if even for an instant.
I’m really loving the fact that WVB used bear models from the community for this show. I hope he continues that trend.

I both agree and disagree. The shirts with the W and mesh are at least interesting. I’m not sure I like how the mesh over the stomache visually broadens the waist, but I like the effect over the shoulders. I’m meh about the baggy shorts, but like quite a few of the jackets, especially the fabrics. The underwear is horrible as are the glasses with the claws. It’s hit and miss, but not universally terrible.

You really want me to itch, I guess. If I trim ANYWHERE it’s a thousand tiny needles piercing my skin.

I don’t like the W-shape shirts. They blur the natural lines of the male body. The shoulders look smaller, and you don’t accentuate the chest. Which i like the best about men: hairy pecs!
