Matt Consola Opening For Pet Shop Boys In SF
Written by NetBear on September 22, 2009 – 12:55 pm -Local bear DJ Matt Consola will be opening for the Pet Shop Boys on the San Francisco leg of their Pandemonium tour across America.
Matt had this to say when asked about the honor of opening for the British techno-dance legends:
“As a 20+ year veteran of the Gay Circuit, Bear and Leather club scenes, I’ve had the honor of touring and co-headlining with some of the communities biggest acts from Tina Cousins, Kristine W, Amber, Deborah Cox, Abagail to my local girl Vicki Shepard at both circuit parties and on RSVP cruises. But with no disrespect intended to my Diva’s, opening for The Pet Shop Boys just takes things to an all new level for me. I could not be more thrilled and honored to have be asked and chosen. Having licensed Pet Shop Boys tracks in the past for my 90’s compilation series Circuit Grooves, I never thought I’d actually be opening for them some day.
The band specifically asked for a mix of “minimal, underground, non-commercial” dance music. So I’ll be pulling heavily from a selection of music I play at my Friday club, Boy Bar. My intentions are to record my set and upload it for all to hear on my Itunes Podcast, ADAPTER.”
