Lazy Bear Weekend Takes A Break For 2010

Today it was announced by their board of directors that the popular summertime event Lazy Bear Weekend at the Russian River will be taking a break in 2010.

Lazy Bear Weekend Taking A Break

Citing their wanting to respect the 2010 Gay Games in Cologne, the Lazy Bear Board dismissed all the crazy rumors circulating on the net. Taking a break also gives them a much needed year off to redesign, restructure and re-assess the processes of producing a huge fund raising event like this.

PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT LETTER FROM THE LBW BOARD OF DIRECTORS, REGARDING LAZY BEAR WEEKEND 2010

To our Lazy Bear Patrons,

After 14 fun-filled years of the West Coast’s best summer Bear FUNdraiser, the board of directors (with a big helping hand from many of you) has reached the decision to take a Lazy Bear Break.

Lazy Bear Weekend has become an international phenomenon. Contrary to lots of crazy rumors apparently circulating on the web, our decision stems from no reason other than to respect the 2010 Gay Games in Cologne, Germany. This allows the many Lazy Bear brothers and sisters who participate in the games to not miss out on Lazy Bear, and it provides us with a much needed year off to redesign, restructure and re-assess the arduous processes of producing our FUNdraising event. It’s not completely unheard of (especially after 14 years) for a non-profit organization like the Lazy Bear Fund (where the money ACTUALLY goes to non-profit outreach programs) to take a year off to redesign and restructure.

In the meantime, Castrobear Presents will be assisting the town of Guerneville with a 3 day SPLASH party (3rd weekend in July) to help the organizations Food For Thought, AIDS Emergency Fund-Sonoma County, The Senior Center and the local Firehouse. Additionally, our Palm Springs FUNdraising weekend “Lazy Bear Holiday” will continue in 2010 as it has for the past 5 years.

Much pride has been felt by our team at creating such a marvelous annual event with a purpose. Please bear with us, as we reshape our schedule for Summer 2011.

Thank you for your understanding as well as your cooperation.
