Bearforce1 Bear Band Breaks Up

Written by NetBear on November 12, 2009 – 5:40 pm -

Today the management of Bearforce1 announced that the bear band has disbanded. The band’s web site reflected the news with the graphic below. It looks like this year won’t be a beary hairy Christmas.

Bearforce1 Split

Two years ago Bearforce1 set the blogosphere on fire with their “Bear Band” tribute to 80’s disco, spawning a new internet meme and thousands of Bearforce1 video parodies and imitators. Everybody was doing the Bearforce1 dance.

At a time where smooth boy band images were the norm, the Bearforce1 video was unapologetic about showing-off hairy, bearded band members shaking their moneymakers with their shirts off. The video began with a now clichéd woman announcer saying, “Viewers of a weak disposition might want to turn away now.”

Bearforce1

Bearforce1 Robert and Yuri

Bearforce1 Peter and Konstantinos

Everyone around the world was doing the Bearforce1 dance.

And just in case you didn’t ever see the original Bearforce1 video, here it is memorialized for all to enjoy. HOO HA!

Here’s Bearforce1 doing Shake That Thing.

Last year’s Christmas Is Here was their last single.

Thanks for the fun, Bearforce1! We’ll miss you.

THANK GOD!! They were such a joke in the US. They turned the bear community into a punchline of a bad joke. Good riddance to bad music and a stupid concept.

I have to go with Chris on this one. I am sure personally they are good guys, but with so many real Bear identified musicians and songwriters out there, this just seemed like a marketing ploy by comparison and seemed to miss the point entirely

I’m a little upset. Yes, they were silly, but I felt that they were the Village People of the Bear community. Fun, but not dangerous.

WoW! Ya’ll missed the whole point of their antics. The vids were pure fun and an absolute hoot to watch.

Chris and Freddy need to step out into the real world to see what REAL men look like. I’ll take one of those bears any day over some little limp wristed, sunkissed boy-bitch.

I LOVE these dudes. Sad to see them go tho. Only came overseas once as far as I know.

    They will be missed.

Don’t get me wrong, several of them are hot, but I think the whole concept was LAME. Glad the group broke up.

    Well, thank f*ck for that.

That was the worst practical joke played on the bear community that I can remember. May they go the way of all shitty aimless pop.

A friend of mine once said about them: “I don´t see much bear and even less force”. I could never disagree with that.
They were playing at an event I was attending and actually made me leave. For all I know these guys are totally awesome human beings, but their music was simply embarassing. And none of them are hot. Not a combination that will get me to watch and listen.

I will always enjoy the campy videos! Anybody who took them seriously needs to get a sense of humour :-)

Loved these guys! This is a sad day for the bear community :( Hopefully another bear band will form soon and continue to break the tradition of twinks crowding the stage. And for all the nawsayers out there, they weren’t a joke. They were guys having fun and also really helped to expose the bear community to the rest of the world.

That’s such a shame. Their songs are so entertaining.
They were guys having fun. For all the haters, you should get yourself sense of humour. and have a laugh. That what it’s all about!

I just discovered this group on YouTube and fell in love with them and their music. My excitement was short-lived as I learned of their demise just now. It’s like falling in love with the Beatles 6 months after they broke up. What a bittersweet discovery. For the haters who posted negative comments about the group here, go F yourselves. Bearforce1 was meant to be pure unapologetic entertainment and their music was catchy. No different from the Village People.

I cant believe you guys that are hateing these guys were a great bunch of guys who sang not to make money, but because they were passionate about singing and aboit being bears(sexy bears might i add) so for all you serious people untie your vag. And amsterdamn your a damn lucky group of people both because of where you live and because Bearforce1 kicks ass. Plus the brought pastels back!

    Hey Ryan,
Glad I’m not the only one in mourning (misery loves company, you know!). LOL Who knows, maybe they will reunite and we can watch the fur fly again!

Sounds like a lot of haters on this topic are just a bunch of snippy queens who are jealous that their fat a$$e$ weren’t one of BF1’s bois. At least they didn’t use the word “woof”. So f’in’ lame… They were hot, fun and colourful. Bouncy beats. Pure ear candy and eye candy. Nuffin’ wrong with that! They promoted fun, frolic and fur and gay. 50 years ago you would be aching for some representation of this sort! Suck it up, haters! Now like mah boot with some BF1 playing in the backgroud. Ha!
