Proud Papa Of Kid Who Won’t Pledge Allegiance

If you’ve watched the news here in the US during the last few days you may have seen an interview with a young boy and his dad. Will Phillips refuses to pledge allegiance until there really is liberty and justice for all — in other words, equal rights for gays and lesbians.

Proud Papa of Kid Who Wants Equal Rights

You won’t believe how intelligent and articulate this kid is during the interview. But we also just loved watching his handsome dad, Jay, as he admired his son standing up for the rights of others. The looks and expressions he gives his son are downright heartwarming.

It’s somehow comforting to know I wasn’t the only one who noticed that cute daddy cub. :-)

It is good to see Dad so obviously proud of his son, but the young man seems to be perpetually “on” and guarded, even as Dad gives him a congratulatory nudge at the end. I hope, for his sake, that the boy allows himself to relax, crack a smile, and take a lesson or two from Dad on how to relate to people.

Major points for taking a stand, kid, but give yourself time to BE a kid.

By chance is dad gay? No doubt daddy is very cute, but what I mean is, did Will form his view of homosexuals as equals at home by observation of dad and his friends?

Bright kid, proud and cute dad, “Liberty and Justice for All”, point made.

I had the same idea Jim. And yes, daddy cub is very cute. Especially the last glimpse we get of him. Totally digging the smile. I had to watch it twice because I kept getting distracted by Jay’s cute visage
