Avatar First Image Of Sam Worthington

Written by NetBear on August 25, 2009 – 11:25 am -

Finally, Twentieth Century Fox has released the first official movie photo from James Cameron’s highly anticipated sci-fi epic Avatar. Recognize that hottie? It’s the scruffy cyborg that stole the show in Terminator Salvation, Sam Worthington.

Sam Worthington in Avatar

A wounded ex-marine (Sam Worthington) is sent to settle the planet Pandora against his will. He gets caught by the planet’s natives, called Na’vis, and falls in love with one of them (Zoe Saldana). On their planet, he undergoes an experiment to transform into an avatar, another physical version of himself, which is a giant otherworldly creature who he can control through his mind.

Avatar takes us to a spectacular new world beyond our imagination. The film was first conceived by Cameron 14 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not yet exist. Now, after four years of actual production work, Avatar delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film, disappears into the emotion of the characters and the cinematic sweep of the story.

Meggings: A Response

MeggingsEvery so often a fashion trend reemerges, is picked up by the media, and is immediately dismissed as silly. This seems to happen most often in regard to fashion for men. Most recently, New York Magazine blogger, Amy Odell, lobbed a lighthearted attack on what she so shortsightedly sees as recent development in the world of men’s clothing. However, her observation, assessment, and subsequent clever, yet carefully worded man-bash, couldn’t be more off base.

Father From Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs

Written by NetBear on July 30, 2009 – 10:22 am -

The new 3-D animated movie coming out from Sony looked kind of goofy in the preview. In Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs an inventor makes food fall from the sky like rain. But then the father character caught BigNFuzzy’s eye.

The Father From Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs

Now if that ain’t the stereotypical masculine bloke, I don’t know what is! With big furry eyebrows and a bushy mustache that puts Tom Selleck’s to shame, this is one dad we really want to see in 3-D! Come September 18th we’ll have our chance.

Coraline Fantasy Movie Releasing To DVD July 21st

Written by NetBear on July 17, 2009 – 3:44 pm -

Henry Selick, the visionary animator of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, adapted Neil Gaiman’s creepy novel about a bored girl escaping to another world through a closet door. But in Coraline, be careful of what you wish for. The other side of the looking glass isn’t a very nice place to be.

Coraline Movie Poster

Whether the camera is sweeping through an audience of appreciative Schnauzers or ogling the bazoombas on a pair of old Shakespearean thespians (voiced by the delicious Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders), the stop-motion 3-D is jaw-dropping. Dakota Fanning’s Coraline is a resilient rapscallion, matched by Teri Hatcher’s gleefully vicious turn as Other Mother. Coraline is so rich and compelling, black buttons would have to be sewn over our eyes to keep us from seeing it again.

If you’ve seen the movie, you know you want a copy on DVD or Blu-ray for your collection. If you’ve never seen the movie, you are really in for a treat. Preorder your copy at Amazon.com today.

Out And About: iPhone, Hugh Jackman, Coraline

It has been 8 months since version 2.0 was released. On March 17th Apple will introduce people to version 3.0 of iPhone. Where is our invitation??

Hugh Jackman has balls… Two in fact! After the Oscars Jackman flew to Japan to make an appearance on Japan’s Waratte Iitomo.

If you missed Coraline in 3D at your nearby theater, the best reviewed movie of the year is back in 3D theaters this weekend!

Out And About: Christina Ricci, Nate Montana, Zach Braff

Cute Christina Ricci has a giant boyfriend. (sigh) I’ve always had a bear-crush on her. ;)

Nate Montana, son of football great Joe Montana, is spending his family vacation frolicking on the beach, playing volleyball, playing football and grabbing and touching his private parts.

Zach Braff looks fuzzy and cute in green.

Coraline Is A Handcrafted 3D World Of Wonder

Written by NetBear on January 30, 2009 – 5:16 pm -

From Henry Selick, visionary director of The Nightmare Before Christmas, and based on Neil Gaiman’s international best-selling book, comes a spectacular stop-motion animated adventure – the first to be originally filmed in 3D!

Coraline Movie Poster

Coraline is about a girl that walks through a secret door in her home and discovers an alternate version of her life. On the surface this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life –- only much better. But when this new world turns dangerous, and her counterfeit parents try to keep her forever, Coraline must find a way to get home and save her real family.

This film was made using stop-motion techniques like the famous Tim Burton holiday classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas. So Coraline has that warm and unique charm that only real hand-crafted miniature sets, props and characters can instill.
