Kevin Smith Has Drama On Southwest Airlines

Written by NetBear on February 16, 2010 – 12:01 pm -

We really love Kevin Smith. And he was absolutely hilarious at both MacWorld and the IBR SModcast in San Francisco. But when he got ejected off a Southwest airlines flight home, we have to wonder what the deal was.

Kevin Smith Makes A Fat Face On Southwest Airlines
Kevin makes a fat face.

After he created a bit of drama canceling his appearance at IBR and then reconfirming it (it was all Malcolm’s fault according to Smith), we kind of knew that there might be some drama going on there. Little did we know it might develop into something like this.

Kevin Smith Is On Off And On For IBR San Francisco

Written by NetBear on February 12, 2010 – 2:45 pm -

Leave it to a straight bi-curious man to create major drama for the gay men putting on International Bear Rendezvous this year. (How’s that for funny a turn-about of stereotypes?) Kevin Smith was headlining the Smodcast show at IBR until yesterday afternoon when he canceled his appearance. But it was just straight drama. As of this morning he’s back on board.

Kevin Smith’s Bald Spot on a Southwest Flight

Speaking of Kevin on board, we tweeted that the Kevster was sighted by a member of the Bearotic Army hustling onto a Southwest flight from LA with his fancy Louis Vuitton bag. Here’s some photographic evidence. Can you spot Kevin Smith’s head in this photo? Hint: He’s not wearing a ball cap.

We can’t wait to see Kevin at the Smodcast with director Malcolm Ingram!

LOST Final Season Starts Tonight

Written by NetBear on February 2, 2010 – 9:34 am -

I was hooked on LOST the moment I saw Jack, the scruffy-cute doctor guy, helping people on the beach after their plane had crashed on a strange island. People were getting sucked into jet engines and strange noises were coming from the jungle. This was a science-fiction mystery I could really get into.

LOST Final Season Premiere

Over the past five seasons I’ve been a devoted fan. But there are SO MANY loose ends at this point. One wonders how the writers will draw them all together. Will we get the answers we seek?

  • What is the island?
  • What do those numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42) mean?
  • Who and what is Jacob?
  • Did Juliet rewrite history setting off the hydrogen bomb?
  • What did Jacob mean by, ”They’re coming”?

As I have said in many other sci-fi series, it had better not just turn out to be an elaborate dream sequence. The final season LOST premieres tonight at 9PM, with a special recap airing at 8:00. Refesh your memory by watching the last episode from last season at the LOST site.

Man Seeking Man Becomes Awkward And Tragic

Written by NetBear on January 27, 2010 – 5:26 am -

In this great big world. Not everyone can live an open lifestyle. Some guys can have a whole life behind them before they realize that something is missing. In the Finnish film, Man Seeking Man, Asko Sahlman plays Seppo, a big bearish 50-year-old guy, who places a personal ad looking for the company of men. At first it seems like your typical first encounter foreign film.

Asko Sahlman in Man Seeking Man

But Seppo isn’t at all experienced with men. He’s both nervous and excited waiting for his first caller. When a young man knocks on the door, Seppo does not realize that it’s not the man that answered his ad. It’s his son, who he hasn’t seen in 20 years. Things get awkward and tragic at the same time. Seppo finally realizes what has happened, only too late.

It’s pretty heavy stuff and a little disturbing. But that’s the thing about good cinema. It’s supposed to bring out all kinds of emotions in the viewer. It won the GRAND PRIX at the International Film and TV School Festival 2005 in Lodz, Poland.

Rescue Me Season Five Starts Tonight

Written by NetBear on April 7, 2009 – 2:51 pm -

From the first episode, I was hooked on Rescue Me. Now in it’s 5th season, the FX series looks at the lives of the men in a New York City firehouse.

Denis Leary In Rescue Me

Unlike other rescue/hero series, Rescue Me tackles the daily life drama associated with being a firefighter. These guys deal with some gruesome situations. So the men use dark humor to protect their true emotions.

Tonight, at the start of the fifth season, Tommy finds himself in a relationship that has already burned out, with a hole in his life where his emotionally inaccessible father used to be, and facing a possible expulsion from the firehouse for reckless behavior on the job. Can’t wait to get my Rescue Me firehouse fix!

The Shield Series Finale Tonight

Written by NetBear on November 25, 2008 – 10:18 am -

Fans of Michael Chiklis are at odds with themselves about the 90-minute series finale of The Shield that premieres tonight. It signals the end of a gritty copy drama and of the role that brought Chiklis a lot of admirers.

The Shield Series Finale Tonight

True to the form of the series, tonight’s finale chooses not to kick its audience in the balls Sopranos-style. Instead it actually just wraps up, though not neatly and not pleasantly. It’s going to be a tense, twisted roller coaster as the final minutes of the drama unfold.

The 90-minute series finale of The Shield is tonight from 10:00PM to 11:30PM on F/X.

Boys In The Band Coming To DVD

Written by NetBear on October 31, 2008 – 5:58 pm -

On November 11th CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment will release the DVD of the 1970 cult-classic film The Boys in the Band, the screen adaptation of Mart Crowley’s landmark play of the same name.

The Boys In The Band DVD

In 1968, an Off-Broadway play about a birthday party attended by a group of homosexual men made theatrical history by becoming the first play to deal honestly with gay urban life. The party brings together a group of misfits that have become clichés — the self-loathing alcoholic, the bitchy queen, the flamboyant sissy, the stud-for-hire — for an evening of truth-telling.

Bear With Me Comic Strip Gets Dramatic

Written by NetBear on October 28, 2008 – 11:05 am -

Since we first introduced you to Bear With Me things have gotten a little more dramatic than usual at our favorite bear comic strip.

Bear With Me Gets Dramatic

(Click to see the rest of this episode.)

Paul has left Andy, having been convinced by Andy’s mother that the relationship was doomed due to their disparate backgrounds. (That nasty old bag!) Paul relocated in Pennsylvania and has been living with his nasty father and redneck brother. It has not been at all pleasant.

Now Paul has just come out to his father while packing to leave for his own apartment in town. As you can imagine, this announcement has not gone over well, and the father got on the phone to Paul’s brother to get a group together at the house that evening.

It’s high drama of the beariest kind. You’d better head over to Bear With Me and catch-up on the action.
