Undercover Exbeariment Looks At Bear Culture
Written by NetBear on February 16, 2010 – 10:49 am -People love to categorize everything in their lives. And gay men, if anything, like to do it even more than straight folks. So when it comes to who’s who in the bear community, it’s no surprise to discover that we’ve got quite a list of categories for everyone. Who hasn’t been asked what kind of bear they are.
Writer Josh Rotter decided to do a little “exbeariment” and go undercover as a Grizzly Man to hunt for bears in San Francisco. He would discover for himself what the bear culture is all about.
I quickly discovered that a Bear was more of a look than a personality; the appeal was a masculinity thing - stomachs could be soft, but chests had to be hard - and it was nice to have hair to rub up against.
We’re not sure just how deep Rotter went with his research, but the article is well-written and wasn’t just a casual glance. A look from an outsider helps us to look at ourselves as a community. You have to at least check out the Field Guide reference chart that attempts to illustrate how we like to categorize.

Now they’re planning two big weekends to celebrate the love in both Naples and Rome, co-sponsored by the Bears of Naples.
This Saturday on April 25th the first “Sudwoofer” weekend begins in Naples with La Liberazione. Get warmed-up in the Bear Sauna then go on to the party. Then following week everyone takes it on the road to Rome for a freaky weekend of fun April 30th through May 3ed.

Written by NetBear on March 12, 2009 – 8:51 pm -Grizzly guy Joaquin Phoenix has been at it again. Last night he was giving a spontaneous hip-hop concert in Miami when he lost it and jumped at a heckler in the audience that was giving him a bad time.
Was this just a publicity stunt to make Joaquin look more bad-ass? The whole incident seems a little suspicious — especially since Casey Affleck was in the audience recording the whole thing. But apparently Casey is doing a documentary on Phoenix’s musical career.

His song Beautiful was the perfect choice. Here’s a behind the scenes look at putting together that production.
Elijah really pulled out all the stops getting people together for this. He recruited family, friends, fans and even a neighbor. As you’ll see, it is very special treat to look behind the curtain like this.
Careful though… Once you hear the “Oooooh-oh” chant in Beautiful you’re going to be humming it all day. And once you hear Elijah’s deep, warm voice you’ll just melt.

But it just can’t compare to the real thing. Like Natalie Portman said, “You look like you work at a Hasidic meth lab.” Ben just couldn’t let those pregnant go as long as they should have.

Here he is on a recent visit to David Letterman talking (well sorta) about his new movie with Gwyneth Paltrow. Is this an act? Or has Joaquin gone so laid-back that we’re starting to feel sorry for him?
