Saturday Is Same Sex Hand Holding Day
Written by NetBear on January 24, 2010 – 3:36 pm -This Saturday, January 30th, is the 5th annual Same Sex Hand Holding Day. On this day, same-sex couples and friends all over the world are encouraged to hold hands in public to support the visibility of Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans (LGBT) people.

This is a revolutionary way of encouraging and inspiring LGBT people to take responsibility for their equality and live their lives without fear or restraint. Straight people are an important part of the fight too. They can take the Elvis Challenge.
A Day In Hand supports people to publicly hold hands across the globe. The project heralds a revolutionary way of making the world a fairer place: a revolution in which anybody, on any day, can be a part of. It’s simple:
1) Hold hands with someone of the same gender.
2) Step outside.
3) Live your love.

Uncle Jay’s Singing Recap Of 2009
Written by NetBear on January 2, 2010 – 7:50 pm -Last year’s Uncle Jay Review was a scream. Uncle Jay, the goateed polar bear, still has some pretty good pipes going for him in this year’s singing review.

And the Christmas-themed political humor cuts right to the bone… The funny bone, that is. And his facial expressions are just as cute as can be. From the economy, to partisan politics, Health Care, H1N1, Octomom and celebrities like Tiger Woods… Uncle Jay puns them all in sweet Christmas rhyme, all the while telling it like it is.

Proud Papa Of Kid Who Won’t Pledge Allegiance
Written by NetBear on November 20, 2009 – 1:08 pm -If you’ve watched the news here in the US during the last few days you may have seen an interview with a young boy and his dad. Will Phillips refuses to pledge allegiance until there really is liberty and justice for all — in other words, equal rights for gays and lesbians.

You won’t believe how intelligent and articulate this kid is during the interview. But we also just loved watching his handsome dad, Jay, as he admired his son standing up for the rights of others. The looks and expressions he gives his son are downright heartwarming.

ArtTramp has some fun politically minded t-shirt designs. It’s always a good time to show your pride. Makes a great gift too.
The La Roux store is now open. Get merchandise to show off your love for that swoop-haired diva.
Bet you didn’t know that November 19th is World Toilet Day. Yep… A day to honor the porcelain god without needing someone to hold your hair.
Big muscle bear Bo Dixon is interviewed by Compete, the gay sports magazine.
Speaking of Bo Dixon, his calendar was picked as one of the 5 Hunky men Calendars For 2010 by the Handsome Hunky Men site. Bo represented us furry guys well since the rest of the calendar picks look kinda hairless.
Not the same old fairytale. The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington DC is putting on a show called Snow White and 175 Faeries, the Musical.
BearCity is seeking Daddy-looking profile photos to be featured in an online chat scene. Please submit your name and photo to casting@bearcitythemovie.com.

District 9 Theatrical Trailer Released
Written by NetBear on July 8, 2009 – 2:26 pm -A brand new trailer for District 9, the trippy apartheid movie with a sci-fi twist, has just been released. We get a much better look at some of the special effects.

You might have noticed some ambiguous movie posters appearing on bus stop shelters that say, “For Humans Only” with a no aliens graphic. Most everyone looks at the poster and becomes perplexed at what it means. But we know!

Obesity Is Good For The Economy
Written by NetBear on June 3, 2009 – 2:35 pm -I’m not quite sure what to make of this poster seen on the streets of San Francisco.

Was it published by a chubby chaser who’s trying to recruit? Or is it a wry statement on the state of health care in the United States? Then again, being a consumer requires consuming, right?
Ah… It’s wonderful to be in a city so chock full ‘o creative types.

Marriage Equality 2010 Sign From The Castro
Written by NetBear on June 3, 2009 – 12:10 pm -After visiting the go-go bears at Bear Party last Sunday afternoon, me and the husbear decided to go to the Castro to have dinner. While walking around the neighborhood we noticed some interesting signs and postcards.

Click for large image.
At first I was a little perplexed. But within a few seconds you get the meaning of this somewhat cryptic iconography. Very cool, eh? Print out the large version and show it to everyone you know. It will help get the message out for marriage equality while making for some fun conversations.
The signs have a small URL printed on them for America United For Marriage. But at present there is a placeholder web page displayed. Hopefully the authors of this great imagery will surface soon.

Fish On Dressing For The Occasion
Written by NetBear on May 31, 2009 – 4:56 pm -Kenneth Fish tells us that no matter what the occasion is, dress for it appropriately.
Whether Party or Protest, it never hurts to be dressed appropriately.
At 10:00am on May 22, 2009, the California Supreme Court announced that Tuesday May 26 would be the day they deliver their ruling on Proposition 8. No matter what they announce, no matter what their decision, places like San Francisco will surely be host to events that may, from the outside, be hard to discern protest from party. Either way, one must be properly dressed, and, in part, it is my duty to help you look your best.

Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month: Pants
Wow! I can’t believe a whole month has gone by since I started this series for Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. We’ve covered helmets, jackets, and boots, so far. Today, we’re thinking about bottoms.
No, not that kind of bottom.
The kind you wear.
On a motorcycle.
For protection.
I’m talking about pants, or, heaven forbid, chaps.

Phreakmonkey shows us his hardware. His big wooden antique modem hardware, to be precise.
You want cute? I’ll give you cute. The Pygmy Jerboa sets a new all time high for cuteness in a teeny-tiny package.
OMG… Dame Edna looks absolutely amazon as she meets comedian Wanda Sykes on The Tonight Show. Things heat up when Edna asks Wanda to wear something a little more attractive.
How would you feel if you had to ask 260 million people for the right to marry?
