Oscar Beard Awards From The Red Carpet

Written by NetBear on March 8, 2010 – 1:45 pm -

The stars came out to shine at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards last night. Of course, the Bearotic eye was keeping watch on the noticeable increase in furry chins at this year’s event. Several stars went the way of the beard. Take, for example, the scruffy look that Sam Worthington sported.

Sam has got that gruff Australian, bad-boy-sexy-look down. With a completely scruffy neck full of unshaved goodness, he takes the award for Best Oscar Nuzzle. Mmm… Can you imagine?

See who else on the red carpet got into the bearded action…

Paul Parker Aged To Perfection

Written by NetBear on February 2, 2010 – 10:30 am -

I remember hearing Paul Parker’s Right On Target track at a Castro bar during the 80’s. At a time of so many girlie voices in dance music, I loved the sound of his manly voice. The next day I hit my favorite record store, Butch Wax Records, and got my first look at him. This handsome mustachioed singer was my new favorite.

Paul Parker Through The Years

Over the years Paul Parker has consistently maintained a masculine look, featuring some kind of of facial hair. Today he’s sporting a goatee and showing a little snow on the roof for his new album. Paul has turned into the salt and pepper daddy that we all knew he would be.

Paul Parker Releases New Album

Written by NetBear on January 25, 2010 – 3:20 pm -

Tomorrow disco legend Paul Parker releases his first new album in over a decade. Take It From Me is a collection of brand new music on the Utmosis label.

Paul Parker Take It From Me

I’m in search of a new sensation, on the verge of a revelation.

The cover track, Take It From Me, starts the album off with a new style for the singer. You immediately realize that this ain’t your daddy’s disco music. It’s fresh and modern. When the second track, Chargin’ Me Up, kicks-in, you’ll know it’s time to dance — this track has a catchy and driving electronic beat.

Though the album releases tomorrow you can preview the whole thing right here!

The stars were shining at the HFPA Golden Globe Awards last weekend. And the scruffy, beardy look was definitely in-fashion for many of the men. Take one of our favorite leading men, George Clooney.

George was already handsome and dashing with his salt & pepper hair. But with a salt & pepper beard on top of it all, he’s simply scrumptious.

Photographer Angel Colon has released his second book of bare-skinned male photography that focuses on masculine beauty. Continuing where he left off with his previous work Hirsute, his new book Extensions contains over 100 new photos.

Extensions Photo Book By Angel Colon

Angel has chosen material that a great many of us will definitely appreciate. He wanted photographs to help show that masculine beauty is not solely the domain of the young, trim and muscular. Extensions has plenty of that too. But it also includes a look at the beefier, more mature and less mainstream types of men.

Out And About: Mariah In Drag, Salt & Pepper Hair, Leaning Shoes, Do Tell, Prius Hearse, iPhone 3.1

Written by NetBear on July 1, 2009 – 2:34 pm -

Mariah Carey In Drag If this hotel doorman was to say hello, you probably wouldn’t look twice. Better look again. It’s Mariah Carey in drag for her new music video.

Here’s yet another reason why you should be giving some respect to that handsome guy with the salt & pepper hair. A New Scientist article says that grey hair may be protecting us from cancer.

How *DID* Michael Jackson do that extreme leaning move in his Smooth Criminal video? The secret’s in the shoes.

A Swedish AIDS prevention organization wants to know when, where, and how people have sex with one another. They’ve manufactured 100,000 numbered condoms and are encouraging users to f*ck and tell. [Copyranter]

Prius Hearse From Japan

If the Goth-before-it-was-popular character, Harold, from the cult classic movie Harold and Maude, was around, he’d probably go ga-ga over this Toyota Prius Hearse that was announced.

It’s only been two weeks and Apple is rolling out an iPhone 3.1 Beta to its developers. One promising change is that MMS is enabled by default. Hazzah!

“Project Runway is 100% Heterosexual-Safe!” So says a new Lifetime campaign for the series on its new network.

Bob Mould Releasing New Album

Written by NetBear on March 7, 2009 – 4:00 pm -

Don’t be thrown by the title. Life And Times, the ninth solo album from Bob Mould, is not autobiographical. But it does give him a chance to evoke a range of nostalgia and heated emotion, pulling from the past and here-and-now.

Bob Mould Life And Times

From his days in seminal punk rock band Husker Du, through the rise of alt-rock faves Sugar, and his ongoing work as a club DJ — Mould has depth, experience and passion to channel through his music. And he does.
