Bearotic Favorites From 2009, Part 1

Written by NetBear on January 1, 2010 – 4:09 pm -

Zombies Ahead It was an early sign in 2009. These Zombies Ahead hackcidents seemed to set the tone for the year. There would be some winners and some losers. But there would also be some snoozers.

Coraline showed us a 3D world of wonder made with old school charm. Little did we know that Avatar would soon introduce us to the uber high-tech version.

Colton Ford Colton Ford let us look under his covers. There’s always some eye candy to be had when Colton is involved. But the critics weren’t as enamored with his album of cover songs.

Film star turned grizzly bearded musician Joaquin Phoenix hit new highs and new lows. But we’re not entirely sure which incidents were which. An Absolutely Fabulous remake turns out to be absolutely horrible.

Obamicon Obama-mania officially took over the nation. Everyone got their Obamicon done while one little HUGE gray hat caused a fashion storm. At Obama’s inauguration the new commander-in-chief broadcast the unifying message that We Are One. But the bad economy became a major challenge for the new world leader, though it turned out to be good for beards.

The popular Bearracuda events took off and brought the party to wild life in other cities across the United States. Bear Party took the big and furry guys from world-distributed magazine to live events and contests. Blowoff went from east coast phenomenon to west coast favorite, inspiring half of the group to move to foggy San Francisco.

Burly Jack from Lost The ABBA chicks denied the cat fights. But there was no denying that the Grizzly Jack from Lost set some bear hearts aflutter. We want to see Jack meet himself, like Jonathan Frakes in the Riker’s Beard video.

The Beard Song showed us that eating soup can be fun. But just don’t have as much fun as Sordid Lives or you’ll invoke the wrath of the religious right.

See what else made 2009 a Bearotic year to remember…

Attacks On Sordid Lives And Jason Dottley Continue

Written by NetBear on January 23, 2009 – 5:00 am -

It’s always interesting to see how quickly zealots will turn-over and play victim when it suits their agenda. David Caton and his Florida Family Alliance (FFA) are continuing their attacks on Sordid Lives. But now they’re crying that Sordid Lives star Jason Dottley has launched a campaign against FFA.

Sordid Lives: The Series

They’ve also expanded their campaign to Bowflex, saying that “Bowflex is a leading advertiser on Sordid Lives and several of the other explicit homosexual shows that FFA monitors on the all gay, bi-sexual, transsexual LOGO channel.”

But it would appear that our emails and phone calls in support of Sordid Lives, Del Shores and Jason Dottley have been doing the trick:

Sordid Lives star Jason Dottley posted a page on Utube.com (sic) calling on fans to send emails and make phone calls to FFA and the show’s advertisers.

Del Shores (alleged) mother contacted FFA. Numerous fans called and sent emails.

Keep up the good work!

Sordid Lives Series Attacked By Florida Church

Written by NetBear on January 15, 2009 – 2:24 am -

Do you want religious activists to decide what you can or can’t watch on television? I think not. It’s time for all activist bears to activate!

A Florida church has asked for a boycott of all advertisers who support the popular Sordid Lives: The Series program. David Caton, executive director of Florida Family Association, released a statement Wednesday asking for a boycott of all advertisers who support the LOGO Channel series. One News Now also picked up the story, using a headline of “Pro-homosexual TV show bashes Baptists.”

Sordid Lives: The Series

In a bulletin to their readers, Caton claims the show portraying “Baptist Texas family” as “genderly dysfunctional.” He asks his flock to send a prepared email to advertisers that condemns the show while also saying, “We are also concerned about other explicit homosexual LOGO shows such Noahs Arc, Adam and Steve, TransAmerican Love and Queer As Folk.” Caton doesn’t seem to be concerned with any lesbian content on LOGO.

This alone wouldn’t be enough to whip evangelicals into a frenzy. So Caton also attacks the marriage of Sordid Lives creator Del Shores and Jason Dottley, claiming that Shores left his wife and family for Dottley. Apparently Caton forgot to do his research. Del Shores divorced his wife Kelly nine years before he married Jason, six years before he even met him.

In a video response to these attacks, here’s Jason Dottley explaining the situation. He calls David Caton on the phone to discuss the matter. At the end of the clip Jason presents actions we can take and asks fans of Sordid Lives to contact sponsors of the show and voice their support for the series.

When A Richard Is Really Just A Dick

Written by NetBear on August 23, 2008 – 5:06 am -

We know it’s gonna be a treat when Del Shores sends us something. And of course, this was no exception. We all had a good laugh watching this video. So we figured you might enjoy watching it too.

We’ve all been in a situation where a handsome romantic interest seems too good to be true. And when that perfect guy shows his true colors you suddenly realize why he’s not the catch you thought he once was. Does that sound familiar? ;)

Here’s Olivia Newton-John as the character Bitsy Mae Harling from Sordid Lives: The Series singing You Look Like A Dick To Me.

I think we’ve got a new catch-phrase for guys who are pretty on the outside but aren’t so nice once you get to know them. By the way, have you been watching Sordid Lives: The Series? It’s a scream!

Sordid Lives: The Vlog — From After EltonOver at After Elton there’s a new weekly Sordid Lives: The Vlog from Del Shores and Jason Dottley. It’ll give us the inside scoop on the episodes, showcase special guests and discuss all things home-fried, big-haired and Southern.

The guys over at Jackass blogged about our Phil Margera appreciation page. They’re just jealous. ;) But until they can grow some fur like Ryan Dunn they won’t be on our radar anytime soon. LOL

Hugh Jackman can be our Teddy Bear any day. Here he is saying bye-bye to his wife at the family home in Sydney. We’re still lovin’ those furrry Wolverine chops.

Beijing’s gay scene is slowly coming out of the closet. The bears are there too.

Keith From Season 5 Of Project Runway Is HotLast week season 5 of Bravo’s Project Runway introduced us to a new batch of hopeful designers, all competing for a chance at fashion greatness. This year there are more openly gay designers in the mix than ever before. But we took an instant shine to cubalicious Keith. He’s so purdy with that scruffy face, tats, nipple rings and those sad puppy-eyes. WOOF! But we’re not the only ones in the blogosphere that seem to think that Keith is a hottie (NSFW).

Over the weekend Dark Knight set a new box office record due largely to the late Heath Ledger’s incredible performance as The Joker. The movie set a one-day box office record with $66.4 million on opening day and is still breaking records.

Hollywood loves comic book heroes. So here comes The Watchmen. Ethan Says has some photos. So does Bear Mythology. Or watch the trailer.

Adam Deem Saves Cub Lil SmokeyBear saves cub — Forester Adam Deem, 32, of Anderson, California found a badly burned black bear cub while working the burned area from the Moon fire in Northern California. Li’l Smokey, as he has been named, would not have survived were it not for the bravery of firefighter Deem. Don’t worry. The both man and cub are doing fine. Smokey will make a full recovery.

George Clooney works some mustache madness in a commercial for Martini.

Megastars Azis and Gloria perform Pravi Lubov a ne Voina.
