There’s news from the bears group in Canada’s capital city. The Ottawa Bears have a new web site. And their new Mr. Ottawa Bear 2009, Gary Leger, has been working hard on his first fundraising events.

Sugarbear Weekend — Canada’s Largest Bear Event
Written by NetBear on January 10, 2009 – 11:31 am -In 2004, a small group of Montrealers dreamed of sharing their French-Canadian culture with the International Bear Community. Four years later and with hundreds of participants each year, SugarBear Weekend has become the largest bear event in Canada. It’s time to take care of that sweet-tooth you have for big furry lumberjacks!
SugarBear Weekend 5 will take place in Montreal from March 26th to the 29th. This year’s event will again be jam packed with 3 full days of activities, including a Bear Lounge Party at Sauna 456, a dinner with a redesigned bear fashion-show, a mega dance party, lumberjack games and of course a luncheon at an authentic Sugar Shack with transportation provided.

March 27th through 30th Montreal is going to heat-up for their annual Sugarbear Weekend. One of the big attractions is Sugar Shack which is a huge social ritual in Quebec. It’s all about greeting & smiling & talking & listening & eating & drinking & meeting in a manly and friendly atmosphere and then doing all that some more.
